This bird is a member of the wagtail family, a rather small one in fact. Just like other members of its family, it is identifiable by the characteristic wagging of its tail. It is most often found near streams or other water bodies where it forages for insects. A migratory species, it winters in Africa and Asia. Often when in flight, it lets out a sharp call, repeatedly. These wagtails were photographed at Tungareshwar in Vasai, and in Sanjay Gandhi national park, both in Mumbai.
